That is correct. She is performing part of the dummy form without the dummy. This is a great way to practice timing, movements, flow etc. You still need the dummy to get the right feel and understand the correct way to apply "energy" (depth and breadth). If you ever want to see what "proper energy" to apply...just have sifu show you... LOL ... OK .. I mean on the dummy... not on you... ;-) Cool clip... thanks for sharing... Pete |

| I took a look at the video... it is actually just a special (like those you see in the news here in the US, only in Hong Kong they are 30 mins long) about how a few well-known actors/actresses have recently started studying Wing Chun. Nothing much is mentioned about the art, other than the fact that it was created by a woman and is really good for a woman. The gal doing the form is Michelle, a very popular actress in Hong Kong (NOT Michelle Yeoh, who was the star as Yim Wing Chun in the movie Wing Chun). Michelle is not a martial artist in real life, but she had previously appeared in a number of kung fu movies (even when I live in Hong Kong), and her kung fu was choreographed. What she is doing in the clip, as Pete mentioned, is off of the 1st section of the wooden dummy... she is doing what is known as the "Mou Ying Jong" (No Shape Dummy). When we learn the wooden dummy, in addition to actually working on the dummy, it is just as important to work against air as though you were working on a wooden dummy... the two need to happen simulataneously in your training. |

| Are the hands and feet of the Mok Yan Jong and Mou Ying Jong forms identical? |
