There is a wonderful Chinese patent formula that is commonly taken by the Chinese to strengthen their body's immmune system especially during the flu season. With the Swine Flu scare going on these days, this formula may be something worthwhile taking as a proactive measure to help prevent/minimize the chances of getting the virus.

The name of the formula is "Yu Ping Feng San", also known as "Jade Windscreen". This can be readily available at any Chinese store that sells patented formulas. Good brands include:
- Guang Ci Tang
- Mayway
- Tong Ren Tong
- Min Shan/Lan Zhou

It is always advisable to check with your Chinese healthcare provider before taking any Chinese herbs as a general precaution.

In addition, if the flu has already penetrated your defenses and you feel run down, then Yu Ping Feng Wan will not be applicable as it will be too weak. Then you should consider the following:

1. If you just feel flu-ish, use GAN MAO LING.

2. If you feel feverish and have scratch/sore throat, use YIN QIAO SAN.

3. If you have cough, use SANG JU YIN.

4. If you consistently feel nauseated, use HUO XIANG ZHENG QI WAN.

In any case, if you are not feeling good, especially with the Swine Flu thing going on, it is always best to consult a physician or your healthcare provider rather than taking your health into your own hands, unless you really know what you are doing.
